Hotel Bakker is a traditional family business in the eight-castle village of Vorden. In October 1945, Henny and Willem Bakker took over the hotel ‘Het Wapen van Gelderland’ as the first generation.
Willem Bakker earned the nickname ‘Haantjes-Willem’ because of the spring chickens he successfully served. And still this Burgundian delicacy is on the lunch or dinner menu all year round. After the takeover, the hotel quickly became known locally as ‘Bakker’, simply after the family name.
Son Klaas and his wife Loke took over, and now the third generation is at the helm: daughter Liesbeth and her husband Jeroen. The timeless, convivial and homely atmosphere has always remained there, as has the Achterhoek hospitality.

warm, classic style of Hotel Bakker.

Culinary traditions
Traditions such as ‘Bakker’s Cockerels’ have been on the menu for three generations. Enjoy our asparagus in the spring, game specialties in the autumn, and the beautiful Achterhoek venison all year round. The game comes from our own hunting grounds: in our restaurant, we serve seasonal classics prepared with the finest local regional products. Our menu changes with the seasons, and our extensive wine list also leaves nothing to be desired.
